Abstract

This research aims to investigate the types of data security measures commonly used by enterprises to safeguard sensitive data and their effectiveness in preventing security incidents. The study also aims to compare the data security practices of various industries and types of organizations, such as small businesses, large corporations, and government agencies, and how these approaches impact the effectiveness of their security measures. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, including a survey of IT professionals, a review of the literature, and an analysis of data breach incidents reported in the media. The results suggest that enterprises commonly use encryption, firewalls, access controls, and intrusion detection systems to secure their data. However, the effectiveness of these measures varies depending on the industry and organization type. The study finds that government agencies and large corporations tend to invest more in data security measures than small businesses. Furthermore, industries such as healthcare and finance have stricter regulations and compliance requirements, leading to more robust data security measures. The review of the literature shows that human error, such as phishing attacks and employee negligence, is the most common cause of data breaches. The study recommends better training and education for employees, regular security audits, and the implementation of advanced security technologies, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, to mitigate these risks. Overall, this research provides insights into the effectiveness of different data security measures, the variations in data security practices across industries and organization types, and the common causes of data breaches in enterprises. The findings can help organizations improve their data security practices and reduce the risks of security incidents.
