The Opioid use disorder (OUD) is a growing concern in the workplace, with increasing numbers of employees affected by this condition. OUD can have a significant impact on employee health and well-being, as well as on workplace productivity. Despite this, there is a lack of research on the specific impact of OUD on employee productivity, and how this impact can be mitigated. This study aims to address this gap in the literature by investigating the impact of OUD on employee productivity using a multiple regression model. The sample consists of 232 employees from various industries, providing a broad perspective on the issue. The results of this study have important implications for workplace policies and practices related to employee health and well-being, and for efforts to address the growing opioid epidemic. The results of our empirical investigation indicate that opioid use disorder (OUD) had negative impacts on employee productivity. Specifically, employees with OUD demonstrated lower levels of productivity compared to those without the disorder. These findings highlight the need for employers to develop strategies to identify and support employees with OUD, not only to improve their health and well-being but also to minimize the negative impact on productivity. This study provides important insights into the impact of OUD on workplace productivity and emphasizes the importance of addressing this issue in the workplace.
